Manchester United legend Paul Scholes did not hold back in his criticism of Jose Mourinho last night and explained how the Young Boys clash would have very little effect on the manager’s future.
The Portuguese boss is under tremendous pressure this season having so far failed to meet expectations three years into his reign.
Despite finishing a remarkable 19 points behind champions Manchester City last season, United’s respectable second placed finish meant many expected a title challenge this time around.
Unfortunately it’s been far from it from Mourinho and his players who are struggling to break into the top four let alone challenge for the league.
Scholes believes the Champions League fixture against Young Boys was never going to affect the former Chelsea man’s job given the priority is the Premier League.
Scholes: “It’s more the league situation that will cost him his job. Tonight was never going to cost him his job.” #mufc [BT]

Paul’s words may be true but Jose wouldn’t have reacted to Marouane Fellaini‘s winner at the death in the way he did if it meant absolutely nothing.
Advancements in the Champions League can relieve pressure from himself, the players and the club and they can perhaps go on to perform better in the Premier League as a result.
United were never expected to go far in Europe but the confidence from a win was much needed given the form of late.
