Manchester United fans were terribly disappointed with Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic’s performances vs Manchester City this evening.
The midfield duo couldn’t seem to have any kind of positive influence in the crucial clash that leaves Jose Mourinho’s men 12 points away from top spot.
Matic has been heavily criticised by supporters for numerous games now who believe he is clearly suffering from fatigue.
Herrera meanwhile was just heralded mid-week against Juventus but put in a terrible shift against the Citizens with fans confused as to why that was the case.
United’s inability to keep any control in midfield led to the rest of their game-plan falling apart as they lost 3-1 at the Etihad.
We play Matic-Herrera-Fellaini and expect to be competitive in a game vs the quickest passing midfield in the league.

Wanna know what's absolutely crap.. I'm fuming.
The fact that the 3 fastest players on the pitch are playing by themselves. No midfielder willing to play an actual killer pass. We win it…and run into blue shirts. While matic fellaini and Herrera sitting eating doughnuts.— All For United (@allforunited) November 11, 2018
Matic and Herrera (and others) having shockers. No team wins every single match they play but it’s harder to deal with a defeat when so many players put in poor individual performances. Those two are doing it in the most important areas of the pitch too.

Matic moving like a 45 year old, Fellaini in for height and nothing else, Herrera put in one of his worst performances. #MUFC

Facts… Problem is our midfield has no creativity… Matic and Fellaini are apparently meant to be enforcers and break up City's attack… While Herrera… Well i guess he is just there to mark someone. The side needs Mata

That game was lost the minute the team sheet came out. Midfield three was a joke and it's worrying that football fans know more than our manager about what works and what doesn't work against City. Tall slow players don't.

Marouane Fellaini completed the set in midfield and was arguably the best out of all three players though he faded towards the end of the match.
Ander seemingly struggled to effectively man-mark David Silva and was also incredibly sloppy in possession to make matters worse.
Nemanja consistently lost his man and offered little protection to a shaky defence that has conceded far too often this season.
Paul Pogba’s absence was clearly felt but the question has to be asked as to why Fred didn’t feature as he was the major signing made over the summer.
