Unai Emery has revealed the extent of the knock picked up by Lucas Torreira after the midfielder was substituted against AFC Bournemouth (via Arsenal.com).
It was pleasing to see Arsenal get back to winning ways and he has been so often this season, Lucas Torreira was instrumental to the side’s success.
Despite putting in a man of the match performance, Torreira was substituted with ten minutes left on the clock with Arsenal fans fearing the worst.
Now, Unai Emery has revealed the extent of the Torreira’s potential injury.
“He said to us that he was a little tired and that there was a possibility [of injury],” Emery said of his star man’s injury potential.
“He was giving us good balance but also we have to be clever because he played with the national team for two matches and sometimes you need to listen to the player when they sometimes need rest.
“Matteo is working very well and also I think we need every player. This change was because we need to give him a rest.”
So, it seems as if Lucas Torreira was severely tired and would have risked injury had he played on against AFC Bournemouth. He has been away with the Uruguay national team so fatigue is natural. Hopefully, Torreira will get some rest in midweek ahead of the North London Derby on Sunday.
