Italian Serie A side Inter Milan have agreed a provisional deal with Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to a report on Talksport, who quote Italian news outlet Corriere della Sera.
The midfielder has been monitored by several European clubs for a long period of time but Lazio have been reluctant to let their star man leave the club.
Manchester United and Chelsea were both desperate to sign the Serbian international in the summer transfer window but Lazio put both teams off by demanding at least £130m for him. Inter were also interested but decided not to pursue a move because of his huge price tag.
But now, Inter have reportedly agreed on a deal with the player which would see him move to the San Siro at the end of the season.
Inter’s new general manager Beppe Marotta, who is joining from arch-rivals Juventus, is said to have driven the deal with the 23-year-old.
However, there has been no deal agreed between Lazio and Inter, which is the most challenging bit of this negotiation process.
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is keen to strengthen his side and is already eyeing up potential targets for the end of the season.
