Former Manchester United man Wayne Rooney has insisted he won’t leave his new club DC United during the off-season.
Reports had recently emerged that due to the Englishman’s recent good form, clubs around Europe were hoping to sign him on loan during the MLS break.
United were said to be amongst those keen on bringing him back to the Premier League but the striker has ruled anything of the sort out.
Rooney is currently the club’s record goalscorer and departed last season to Everton before heading to the United States of America.
Since moving to DC United he’s helped drag his new side from the depths of the table to the play-off spots almost singlehandedly.
According to Sky Sports, Wayne said to ESPN FC: “No [I won’t leave on loan]. I think I committed myself to DC and that’s why I’m going to give everything to DC.
“In the off-season I’ll stay here for a lot of that time with my children in school. I’ll go back during Christmas to see some family and friends.
“I’m committed to DC and I don’t think it’d be right for me to fly back and forth to play on loan with another team.”
With Romelu Lukaku in dire form and seemingly struggling in terms of his fitness, it’s no surprise to see Rooney emerge as a possible target for the Red Devils.
Even Zlatan Ibrahimovic was linked with a move back to Old Trafford but Jose Mourinho has since ruled that possibility out.
Manchester United could do with either players’ leadership skills or goals for that matter considering the poor start to the season they’ve endured.
Mourinho’s job is now under threat but he seemingly has time on his hand to turn things around.
