Roy Keane has accused the Manchester United players of being ‘cry babies’ after the Reds limped to a fourth consecutive game without a win.
A 0-0 draw against La Liga side Valencia, who have struggled domestically so far this season, allowed the extension of a very much unwanted spell of poor form for Jose Mourinho’s Man United.
Much of the blame has been placed upon Mourinho’s head. Keane, though, is furious at the lack of pride on show from United players at the moment.
The Irishman insisted that the players should stop caring what Mourinho says in public and perform regardless.
”There’s a lot of cry babies out there,” Keane said, according to The Mirror.
“When you walk out on that pitch you’re playing for your pride, you’re playing for your family, you’re playing for your city, whatever it might be. Don’t get that worried about what the manager’s said about you.”
One of the best United captains in history, and certainly one of the most important, Keane’s advice on squad unity and winning is invaluable.
He gave clear instructions to United’s current squad, telling them to leave any issues with the manager or teammates behind in the dressing room and go and perform on the pitch.
“I don’t care what fallout you’ve had with your manager, I don’t care if you’ve been at each others throats,” Keane continued. “That’s part of the industry. People fall out. Unfortunately when you’re Man Utd, one of the biggest clubs in the world, things get exaggerated.”
It’s yet another piece of advice from a United great that the players could do with listening to. Perhaps in the dressing room itself, Michael Carrick can convey some of the advice that this weak group of players need.
