Patrice Evra’s regular attendance at Manchester United games alongside the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is not a sign that the Frenchman will be given a role at the club.
The Manchester Evening News report that Evra is not being considered for a technical director role at Old Trafford. Many had thought that could be the case given the fact that Evra and Woodward sat next to each other at Man United’s fixtures against Chelsea, West Ham and Juventus.
However, the reason for that is simply down to Evra living in London and the fact that United had two games in the capital in quick succession against West Ham at the London Stadium and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The 1-0 loss to Juventus was a big game and Evra played for both clubs. It’s still possible that Evra could become a club ambassador as figures like Ji-Sung Park, who was also in attendance for the Juventus fixture, have.
“It is just two friends catching up,” the MEN suggest a source close to Evra told them.
Woodward reportedly wanted to keep Evra in 2014 when David Moyes was sacked but the Frenchman’s girlfriend had “her heart set” on a move away from Manchester.
His personality and brilliance at left-back have been greatly missed at Old Trafford, although Luke Shaw is now performing well in Evra’s old position.
