The Arsenal Supporters’ Trust has calculated what it expects to be Arsenal’s transfer budget for next season (via The Telegraph).
It may not seem like but Arsenal have spent a fair amount of money in the last couple of seasons.
The Gunners spent around £65 million over the summer, broke even the season before and shelled around £85 in the season before that.
This is all against the backdrop of a loss of Champions League which comes at an estimated cost of £30 million.
The Gunners are again out of Europe’s premier club competition this season but may well reach it next year.
Despite that, the Arsenal Supporters’ Trust has estimated that the club is currently running at a substantial operating loss.
With that in mind, the Trust has estimated that head coach Unai Emery will have around £40 million to spend next summer, prior to the release of funds from the improved Adidas kit deal.
Arsenal cannot compete financially with some of the other clubs in the Premier League and this estimated figure from the AST only further proves that. Still, that could well improve should the Gunners achieve their target this term: Champions League qualification.
