Marcus Rashford has been left ‘bemused’ by Jose Mourinho’s comments about him in the aftermath of Manchester United’s 3-2 win against Newcastle United on Saturday evening.
The young England striker was name-dropped by Mourinho as one of two players, along with midfielder Scott McTominay, who was ‘scared’ on the pitch.
Rashford was taken after 67 minutes for Alexis Sanchez, the man who netted the winner for the Reds in an epic second-half comeback.
Despite the last-minute winner, Mourinho was still critical of Rashford and McTominay in a subtle way.
The Sun reports that Rashford is ‘bemused’ by Mourinho’s suggestion that he can’t handle the pressure at United.
Though he’s only 20, Rashford has played 27 times for England’s national team including at a European Championships and a World Cup.
He’s also won the FA Cup, Community Shield, EFL Cup and UEFA Europa League at United already.
Rashford has a huge amount of experience with club and country and is confused about Mourinho’s words.
It’s the second piece of news in recent weeks which puts the pair’s relationship as slightly negative. Rashford was reportedly warned by Mourinho for failing to warm down properly after United’s 3-0 away win against Young Boys in Switzerland.
