Gary Cahill may now consider seeing out the rest of the season with Chelsea, despite looking set to leave the club.
The London Evening Standard reports that Cahill could perform a transfer U-turn after previously hinting he may be forced into leaving the club in January.
Speaking after last night’s 1-0 win over MOL Vidi, the defender has set his sights on Europa League glory this season.
This year, we are in the Europa League and we will try to win this. For me, it’s just about getting out there playing as much as I can. I’m ambitious in everything I do. That is never going to change. I’m excited to see how far this team can go. I feel like I’m fit and in good form. I feel really fresh. I am ready whenever I’m called upon, whenever I’m needed.
Cahill has fallen out of favour under Maurizio Sarri, despite being a regular under Antonio Conte last season.
The Italian head coach has preferred a partnership of Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz in a new-look back four.
With his Chelsea and England career on the line, he recently revealed that if his game time does not increase, he could be on the move.
Cahill has drawn links to Turkey and Manchester United, with some reports suggesting talks have already taken place.
