Former Manchester United winger Memphis Depay insisted Manchester was still red after his Lyon side beat Manchester City 2-1 in the Champions League.
The Dutchman was signed by Louis van Gaal in 2015 but miserably failed to have an impact during a drab season, and left the club 18 months later having scored seven goals in 53 appearances.
He is enjoying much better luck at Lyon and played a crucial role in the side’s convincing 2-1 win at the Ethiad last night, consigning Pep Guardiola to four European defeats on the spin.
Memphis took a brief video during dinner after the game to once again insist that Manchester was still red.

Under a different set of circumstances, under a different manager and a different way of playing, Memphis could have succeeded at Old Trafford.
For a winger who relies on movement around him and space to exploit, the environment cultivated by Louis van Gaal was inimical to helping him perform at his best. Memphis can never prosper in a team playing at a snail’s pace.
At Lyon, on the other hand, Bruno Genesio’s team presses with optimum intensity and moves up the pitch rapidly. It has got Memphis back in tune and revitalised his career.
Perhaps United should think about that buy-back clause?
