David de Gea was typically restrained when discussing his crucial injury time save during Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Watford on Saturday.
Jose Mourinho’s men should have put the game out of sight by half time but instead allowed Andre Gray to halve the deficit and set up a nervy finish.
And it looked like Christian Kabasele had given the hosts a late equaliser with a powerful header, only for De Gea to magnificently divert the ball wide for a corner.
Speaking after the game, De Gea, who never seems fussed about anything, seemed pleased with the three points.

That save in the dying seconds of the game was defining, and an example of why De Gea is widely regarded as the best keeper in the world. But it was not, weirdly enough, his most important save of the game.
Watford had dominated the opening 30 minutes and the Vicarage Road crowd was increasing in volume, sensing blood. Troy Deeney fired off a shot destined for the top corner which De Gea plucked out of the air, and from then on Watford’s momentum was deflated, giving United the chance to capitalise with two quick goals.
Nobody can doubt that De Gea deserves to the club’s highest paid player – by some distance.
