Jose Mourinho believes Manchester United should have been winning by three or four goals by half time against Watford.
Man United, who led Burnley by two goals at the break last time out, begun the game at Vicarage Road superbly, taking control through goals from Romelu Lukaku and Chris Smalling.
Paul Pogba, Lukaku, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez all had chances to kill the game off but failed to find the target, allowing for Watford to halve the deficit and engender a nervy finish for the visitors.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho insisted that United, like against Burnley, should have completely taken control of the encounter.
Mourinho: “I think we should be winning 3 or 4. The same happened against burnley. When you concede a goal like Vicarage road, the game was always going to be difficult.” #mufc [BT]

United have reacted more or less perfectly to consecutive defeats in August. At Vicarage Road, against a side with four wins from four games, they moved the ball with precision and thrust, playing Watford at their own game by loading the box with crosses and bodies. Marouane Fellaini was magnificent once again.
Against Brighton and Tottenham Hotspur the defence crumbled after conceding. It didn’t here. That in itself is progress.
Where United continue to fall short of teams like Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea this season is the art of killing the game, of turning the affair into a battering. They certainly have the players to do it. That has to be the next step for this Mourinho team.
