Jose Mourinho was once again delighted with Luke Shaw‘s display at left-back during Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Burnley on Sunday.
The 55-year-old praised Shaw on Monday for producing three top performances against Leicester City, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Tottenham Hotspur.
And he was once again superb against Burnley, driving forward down the left brilliantly for both of Man United’s first half goals and comfortably dealing with Aaron Lennon in the second.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho branded Shaw’s performance against Burnley as “very good”.
Mourinho: “Lots of good performances, but i would say Fellaini was fundamental with the team, together with Smalling and Lindelof they made a fantastic group of players. Luke Shaw also had a very good performance.” #mufc [beIN]

Many over the years have questioned why this club has kept Shaw, despite being nowhere near the first team and lacking in confidence, within its ranks. Why would Mourinho, having publicly criticised him so often, not just dispense with him?
This is why. Performances like what we saw today are why. When fully fit and handed a run of games, Shaw does everything you’d want from a modern left-back – most notably changing the entire shape and feel of United’s attack down the left.
With Romelu Lukaku holding play up and attacking midfield duo Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard creating space, Shaw was able to make endless imprints on Burnley’s shape, ratcheting up United’s tempo in a way which was desperately missed last season.
This is the first time Shaw has completed 90 minutes in four consecutive games since he broke his leg in 2015. And his form is the best it has been since that horrible night in Eindhoven. Supporters will just pray it continues.
