Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has admitted he’s confused over why there’s speculation on Marcus Rashford‘s future at the club.
The Englishman himself hasn’t hinted at a desire to leave Old Trafford but pundits and some sections of the media believe he’s stunted under Jose Mourinho.
The belief is Rashford hasn’t gotten enough match-time under his belt to develop and must depart if he hopes to improve as a player.
Mourinho decided to finally address the press and pointed to the statistics as proof the youngster plays plenty of matches.
Giggs agrees with the former Chelsea boss and believes Marcus is at the right place for his career.
According to the Daily Star, Ryan said to Manchester Evening News: “He’s a Manchester United player, he’s from Manchester and he plays a lot of games so I don’t see why there is speculation.
“He scored a couple of goals for England, but that doesn’t mean anything.
“He’s at the right club, United have a rich history of playing young players, so I’m not sure why all these people are debating whether he should leave.”
There’s no doubt why Giggs believes Rashford should stay given he’s a Manchester United fan and proof of how an academy product can develop at the club.
However, the statistics don’t lie so even from a neutral point of view it’s tough to deny that the striker isn’t getting enough minutes.
What United supporters would like to see more of though is Marcus being handed more starts.
The pacy forward and Anthony Martial have often been swapping roles with each other and the addition of Alexis Sanchez has made it a little more difficult in that sense.
