Reporter reveals why Kroos didn't move to Man United

Richard Keys has revealed why Real Madrid star Toni Kroos never made the switch to Manchester United, blaming Louis van Gaal as the reason.

The German has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since David Moyes reign and potentially even a little earlier.

Every year he’s seemingly closer to a transfer but things have never worked out with him instead moving from Bayern and remaining at Madrid.

Kroos would’ve certainly added genuine quality to United’s midfield but it appears Van Gaal ruined that from happening.

Jose Mourinho definitely would’ve enjoyed having the talented Real star and may even have never invested in Paul Pogba if that happened.

According to Manchester Evening News, Richard said: “Toni Kroos decided he didn’t want to play under LVG for a second time when he was leaving Bayern.

“David Moyes had spent hours and days, running into weeks, getting Kroos to agree to join him at United. Moyes was certain he’d be signing. I mean ‘certain’.

“But then United changed manager and the deal was off. After an unhappy time in Munich with LVG there was no way he was volunteering for more at Old Trafford.”

It’s fair to say the Keys’ words fit the narrative of how Louis had the Red Devils playing some turgid football during his reign.

There were also other reports that other footballers turned down a transfer for the same reason.

Nonetheless it proved to be the right decision by Toni as Manchester United are still in their transition period.

Madrid have been busy winning league titles and Champions League trophies with ease under Zinedine Zidane.

The French manager though has been linked with the United job of late and could perhaps make the Kroos deal a done one.
