<—Article Start—>Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has opened up about Jose Mourinho’s influence on his career ahead of Monday night’s big Premier League showdown at Old Trafford.
Manchester United host Tottenham, who have won both of their opening league matches, in search of a win to bounce back from the humiliating 3-2 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion last Sunday.
Pochettino and Mourinho are considered to be two of the greatest bosses in world football and look set to clash once again at the end of game-week three, but the build-up has been friendly.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Pochettinho admitted: “For every single manager who is younger than [Mourinho], he was an inspiration – for everyone, of course. I took a lot of things from him. So many things. He is an unbelievable manager.
“I am younger than him, of course. The circumstances that happen with me, that happen with other managers, they will happen, it is up and down.”
The two have locked horns on 15 previous occasions and Mourinho has won 11 of those meetings, a result which could prove crucial in United’s attempts to capture title no. 21.
All the records point towards a United win on Monday night but it’ll take a lot to bounce back from such a catastrophical performance at the AMEX Stadium last time out and Harry Kane and Co. will be vying to continue their 100% start to the 2018-19 campaign.
