Lucas Torreira has revealed how he is adapting to life in England after his summer transfer from Sampdoria to Arsenal (via Arsenal.com).
After a disappointing start to the season, Arsenal’s Premier League campaign kicked into life with a 3-1 win against West Ham on Saturday afternoon.
Nacho Monreal and Danny Welbeck scored either side of an own goal as the Gunners fought back from 1-0 down to pick up their first points of the season.
Arsenal, of course, came up against Jack Wilshere in West Ham colours and now, the man who replaced him at Arsenal, Lucas Torreira has revealed how he is settling into the team.
“I’m really happy,” Torreira told Arsenal.com.
“It’s all very new for me because I’ve come from a different type of league. The climate is different here and the way of life too, but I’m settling in nicely and training hard – the sessions are different too.
“The confidence will grow with every game, so that’s great.”
Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Matteo Guendouzi both started and Torreira was asked whether his next aim is to get into the starting XI.
“Let’s hope so. You train hard, you give your all and you want to improve. I want to start but any time I get on is very important for me.
“For me, the best thing is to be able to help my team, as I did today coming on in the second half, and we were able to get the win for our fans, who really deserve it.”
Lucas Torreira has impressed during his brief substitute appearances for Arsenal. It’s clear that he is settling into the team and Sunday’s match with Cardiff City would be a good place for Torreira to secure his first start for the team.
