Leicester manager discusses Maguire's potential move to Man United

Leicester City manager Claude Puel has jokingly accused Manchester United of trying to cause trouble ahead of their Premier League clash due to the interest in Harry Maguire.

The two face off for the opening of the season but recent reports claim Jose Mourinho has cooled his interest in the Englishman.

United’s focus has been shifted to Barcelona’s Yerry Mina if rumours are to be believed and Maguire is no longer a top priority.

It seems both clubs couldn’t come to an agreement which has been a recurring issue for Mourinho all summer long.

Nonetheless Puel is adamant Leicester will attempt to hold onto Harry as he doesn’t want to disrupt their plans for the season.

According to Manchester Evening News, Claude said to Sky Sports: “I think perhaps United wanted to make trouble before our game!

“It’s not the thing to try to make trouble but I think he’s a better player for us.

“It’s our intent to keep him and just a few days before the start of the season it would not be a good thing for the squad, for confidence and for Leicester FC.”

Jose has had a history of stirring up trouble so it wouldn’t be surprising to learn he only raised interest in Maguire for the sake of destabilising Leicester.

However, it’s too much of a conspiracy theory and the Red Devils’ interest in signing a centre-back is said to be genuine.

Mourinho’s been chasing a proven, experienced leader for the whole summer but has failed to bring in the likes of Leonardo Bonucci or Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld.

It’s believed the Portuguese manager doesn’t feel he’s being fully backed in the transfer window by the Manchester United owners.
