The Manchester United boss hasn’t been in the best of moods this week following his side’s shocking 3-2 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion last Sunday, but he has made sure to make the effort to protect his reputation.
Speaking in his short press conference ahead of Monday night’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, Mourinho insisted he wants what is best for the club rather than himself.
“In my career I was never selfish and thinking about myself, I was always a club man. That’s what I am. I am really happy when the supporters support the team.”
A win against Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham, who have won both of their opening Premier League matches, would certainly raise the mood surrounding Man United and print positive headlines on Tuesday morning’s front pages.
