In a highly contested game Arsenal narrowly beat Chelsea on penalties following an all-action affair ending 1-1 after 90 minutes.
Whilst much is at change at Chelsea with new faces such as Hudson-Odoi, Jorginho and the illusive Barkley featuring much is at change at Arsenal with Unai Emery replacing Wenger and making a whole host of changes in transfers and otherwise.
The game started well for the Blues, and it only got better for Blues fans after German defender Antonio Rudiger headed home the first goal of the night after a great cross from Cesc Fabregas.
But one of the biggest talking points was the form of youngster Hudson-Odoi, who was simply brilliant all game and had Hector Bellerin on toast all night winning a penalty in the process. Which Alvaro Morata failed to convert.
Yet Hudson-Odoi was by far Chelsea’s best player all night, and if it wasn’t for the fingers of Petr Cech the Englishman would have sent Chelsea 2-0 ahead in the 40th minute after a great bending shot from the youngster. At times it was hard to tell the difference between Eden Hazard and Hudson-Odoi.
The more time Hudson-Odoi got on the ball, the more confident he became, and it really turned into the Hudsoi-Odoi show.

For Morata it just really wasn’t the night for the former Real Madrid man who had multiple chances against former Blue Petr Cech but just couldn’t convert his multitude of chances including a 15th-minute penalty.
Alonso, Hudson-Odoi and Pedro seemed to grow increasingly annoyed with the Spaniard due to his lack of willingness to run into space, with many of the fans questioning Morata’s place at Chelsea next season.
Meanwhile, £57 million signing Jorginho looked solid in the centre of Chelsea’s midfield 3, with one fan I was talking to describing him as a “midfield Azpilucueta.” Which is an apt description of the former Napoli man, sharing qualities with Chelsea’s on the field Captain both being brave, strong and great all game.
At half-time, both David Luiz and Cesc Fabregas, who had impressed first half were rested with Andreas Christensen and Danny Drinkwater replacing them for an all-action second half.

Rudiger continued to impress and became a towering presence in both boxes sending a Pedro corner in the 56th minute narrowly wide with a great glancing header and denying Arsenal a lick up until his half-time substitution. The technique alone deserved a goal with great power to reach that height.
At the hour mark Davide Zappacosta, Emerson Palmeri, Ethan Ampadu, Tammy Abraham and Victor Moses, and then later we saw Bakayoko, English World Cup hero Ruben-Loftus Cheek and Goalkeeper Bulka coming on late into the match.
Arsenal did come close with Lacazatte sending the ball narrowly wide in the 77th minute, yet Chelsea continued to control the game with English pair Hudson-Odoi and Tammy Abraham the busiest of the Chelsea players going forward.
It wasn’t long before young Chelsea goalkeeper Bulka, had to get his hands dirty denying Arsenal a second-half equalizer in the 83rd minute with a great close quarters stop with a firm right hand sending a sure-fire goal away from the danger area.
Yet Bulka’s brilliant stops weren’t enough alone with Lacazette beating the young goalkeeper in the 92nd minute to send the game into penalties.

It was perfect penalties by both sides, yet it was Ruben Loftus Cheek who failed to convert his penalty and Iwobi subsequently converting his in sudden death to win the game for Arsenal.
But the biggest applause of the night went to Hudson-Odoi after the youngster was substituted in the 84th minute for Brazilian winger Piazon who was previously on loan at West London rivals Fulham.
Despite the result Chelsea, now under new boss Sarri looked very impressive. Especially in the first half, only time will tell how well he will lead Chelsea next season. But after that display it is clear that Hudson-Odi has to be in his plans next season.
