Juventus are prepared to offer midfielder Miralem Pjanic plus cash in exchange for Paul Pogba, according to reports from both Italy and the United Kingdom.
The news comes at the same time as Barcelona’s attempt to sign the Frenchman by offering Manchester United a sum of £45m plus defender Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes – a bid the club obviously rejected.
Pogba dazzled during the World Cup, scoring the decisive goal in the final against Croatia, and has attracted attention from both his former club and Barcelona.
And according to Italian media outlet Tuttosport and Paul Hirst from the Times, Juventus will look to take advantage of Pogba’s ‘strained’ relationship with Jose Mourinho by offering the club Pjanic plus cash to bring the Frenchman back to Turin.
This is a better offer than the joke submitted by Barcelona since Pjanic, while largely different to Pogba in type, is nonetheless a genuine world class midfielder. That said, the offer is no more acceptable than Barcelona’s.
Ed Woodward, currently under pressure to rescue the club’s transfer window, will be in absolutely no mood to let Mourinho’s prize asset leave this month – regardless of any offer which falls on his desk over the next few weeks.
