Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole is tipping the Blues to emerge as surprise title contenders under Maurizio Sarri.
As reported by the Metro, Cole, who was speaking to ESPN FC, believes that Chelsea’s transfer business has gone under the radar this summer.
Chelsea have gone about their business a little bit quiet in terms of having a new manager. They should be fighting for the title, but I don’t think people are [thinking that way] at the minute. To get six points from two games, it’s a fantastic start. They’ve just got to keep going.
Having added Jorginho, Kepa and Mateo Kovacic to their squad, the LA Galaxy defender has been impressed with the club’s start to the new season.
The Blues have taken six points from a possible six with wins over Huddersfield and Arsenal.
Chelsea fans will be hopeful for what the future holds under Sarri at Stamford Bridge, with the Italian’s main objective to guide the club back into the top four this season.
Cole will be hoping that his former side can keep up the good start when they travel to Newcastle on Sunday afternoon, looking to make it three wins from three.
