Ferdinand makes damning prediction of Man United's season

Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand has made a damning prediction of the club’s upcoming season, believing it’s difficult to see them win.

The Englishman put down the lack of potential in a title challenge due to the transfers that have happened around the Premier League.

While United haven’t been as poor as Tottenham this summer, it could be argued they’ve not invested as well as the rest of their rivals have.

Jose Mourinho has only made the addition of one major signing in Fred to a squad that finished 19 points behind fierce rivals and champions Manchester City.

Ferdinand understandably doesn’t have much faith heading into the new season and mirrors the frustrations of the club’s fans.

According to the Mirror, Rio said: “I’m a United fan, and I want to see them win the title, but I fear it’s going to be very difficult for that to happen this season.

“I can’t see past City and Liverpool as the top two — and to say that about the two clubs who wouldn’t be top of any United fan’s Christmas card list is horrendous.”

City have added Riyad Mahrez to a title winning squad while Liverpool have added considerable depth to their squad whilst simultaneously addressing key weaknesses.

Arsenal have also strengthened considerably while Chelsea have made a managerial change along with chasing new signings before the deadline ends.

Jose has already publicly discussed his frustrations with the lack of signings and it seems the board want to wait before backing him further.

The Portuguese manager has already praised vice-executive chairman Ed Woodward for trying his best so it appears the trouble is with the owners.
