Eden Hazard is very happy to be staying at Chelsea this summer, according to new head coach Maurizio Sarri.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Saturday’s season opener against Huddersfield, as cited on BBC Sport, Sarri explains that the player has not voiced his desire to leave the club.
Hazard is with us. It’s not a problem. I have spoken with him three, four times, for everything. He never said anything about the market. He’s very happy to stay here.
Real Madrid were said to be considering the player as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who left for Juventus earlier in the summer.
After being heavily linked with a move to Madrid, Hazard did little to distance himself from the rumours, when he claimed it could be time for him to enjoy a new challenge in his career.
Hazard’s comments, coupled with Ronaldo’s departure at Real meant that everything looked set up for him to join the La Liga giants, but the Belgian appears set to stay in London for the foreseeable future.
