Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku has explained why he’s focussed on bigger things than the Golden Boot award with Belgium at the World Cup.
The talented striker kicked off the tournament in fine form, grabbing four goals in two games to put him right in the race for one of football’s most sought after personal awards.
Lukaku may have a real shot at winning it following the departures of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Diego Costa though he’ll certainly have to keep the goals coming.
His international side definitely create enough chances for him, one way or the other and it almost always just comes down to him converting.
Nonetheless, Romelu has a bigger award on his mind than the Golden Boot and explained just why he’s not too concerned about winning the individual trophy.
Lukaku: “For me it is not about the race for the Golden Boot. I'm not here to talk about individuals, I'm here to talk about my team and this is a team on a mission. We know what we have to do. We have a mission as a team and that is the most important thing for me.” #mufc [Mail] pic.twitter.com/SKaESLliox

Belgium were labelled the dark horses of the competition but perhaps with the likes of Germany, Argentina, Portugal and Spain all getting knocked out, they may be considered favourites now.
May believe it’s between Lukaku’s country, France, Brazil or even England with the way this unpredictable World Cup has developed so far.
Either way, United fans will be hoping that the former Everton man can conclude his tournament in fine form and without injury so that when he returns, he’s ready to fire them towards the title.
