Ander Herrera has backed Manchester United teammate Anthony Martial to ‘smash it’ this Premier League season as he gears up for perhaps the most important one of his career.
The Frenchman was left out of his nation’s World Cup squad and will surely be hurting following their run to win international football’s most prestigious trophy.
With Martial showing inconsistency and immaturity, there’s lots of question marks over his future and if he still has a place in this United squad.
It’s clear Jose Mourinho prefers Marcus Rashford to him and it’s up to him to prove his manager wrong for doing so in the upcoming campaign.
Herrera though believes Anthony has shown up for pre-season looking focused and ready to smash it, which is certainly encouraging to hear for fans who want him to be a crucial part of the club.

As Ander says, hopefully the former AS Monaco man can continue to work hard in order to prove his quality that supporters know he very much has.
Martial watched from the sidelines as international teammate Paul Pogba proved his worth on the biggest stage of them all, growing with maturity throughout the tournament.
Now it’s his turn to do the same and on a lesser scale as well so hopefully it does work out for him this season.
