Chelsea are stepping up their pursuit of Juventus star Daniele Rugani.
According to exclusive claims from Italian reporter Alfredo Pedulla, the Blues have increased their offer for Rugani to a huge fee of €55 million.
Chelsea have been chasing the signature of the Italian international throughout the summer transfer window and with the season under a month away, it seems they are looking to accelerate their dealings.
Rugani is a player who is held in high esteem at Juventus, so it comes as no surprise to see them demanding a premium figure for the defender.
The deal for Rugani is set to make him the most expensive defender in Chelsea’s transfer history, with a deal worth €55 million likely to meet Juventus’ demands.
Pedulla’s report states that the negotiations between the two clubs are progressing quickly, with a deal set to be completed in the near future.
Rugani’s arrival could mean the departure of a current central defender from Chelsea. Both David Luiz and Gary Cahill have recently been linked with exits from Stamford Bridge.
