On Saturday, it was reported in Italy that Manchester City had stolen a march on Chelsea and Barcelona in the race to sign Miralem Pjanic from Juventus.
The Bosnian international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Serie A champions, despite their efforts to tie him down to a new and improved contract at the club.
City appeared to be closing in on Pjanic, however, according to new claims from the Mirror, it seems their alleged interest in the player has been exaggerated.
It’s claimed that City boss Pep Guardiola is content with the midfield options at his disposal, with the Spaniard not intending to splash the cash on Pjanic this summer.
This news could come as a big boost for Chelsea, who have been continuously linked with a move for the midfielder in recent weeks.
Pjanic, like his Juve teammates Gonzalo Higuain and Daniele Rugani, is believed to be high on Maurizio Sarri’s list of targets as he continues to rebuild his Chelsea side.
