Manchester United star Jesse Lingard started and scored for England in their second match in the World Cup which came against the physical Panama.
The academy product had fans worried for a moment when he took an elbow to the face early on in the match but he made it clear that it didn’t affect him at all.
Supporters who were debating about whether Lingard or Tottenham’s Dele Alli should start the match will have leaned towards the former after his goalscoring performance.
Alli missed out on the match through injury but England certainly didn’t miss him as they managed to destroy Panama 5-0 before the first half was even over.
A lot of the Three Lions’ good play came through Jesse and he deservedly got his name on the scoresheet after scoring a beauty from outside of the box.

The curling effort was always bound to go in but perhaps the more impressive aspect was how he started the move himself, playing one-twos with his teammates and having the technique to finish it all of as well.
Jose Mourinho will surely have been watching on with interest and potentially changing some of his squad plans for United next season.
