Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku has found himself under attack by pundit Shaka Hislop despite scoring a brace against Panama for Belgium in their World Cup opening match.
The powerful striker was in fine form prior to the tournament beginning and has managed to carry his goalscoring patch into the games themselves too.
Lukaku has even been criticised by some sections of his own fans due to his performances with United despite managing an overall impressive goal overhaul.
The Belgian’s finishing has been called under question by Hislop who believes he’s not a clean enough finisher which can only be assumed to mean he’s not clinical enough.
With 27 goals and nine assists for the Red Devils this season excluding the numbers he’s put in for his country, one has to wonder what must he do to gain some respect.
According to the Daily Star, Shaka said on the ESPN FC podcast: “My criticism of Romelu Lukaku is I don’t think he is a very clean finisher, which I think you need at the top-end of the game.
“Belgium come into this tournament ranked number three in the world, you expect them to go deep against a Spain and a Germany where you may only get one or two chances.
“I’m not sure Lukaku is the man you put your mortgage on to convert that half chance.”
Romelu’s just 25 years of age but is already Belgium’s top goalscorer and it’s not really a surprise given how it feels like he’s been around for a decade.
The powerful striker has had experience in the Premier League as well having played for Chelsea, Everton and West Brom alongside his current side Manchester United.
