Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Portugal’s William Carvalho in a bid to reinforce their midfield as they continue their summer splurge.
Jose Mourinho has already brought in Porto’s Diogo Dalot and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred so far and has been busy trying to tie up other deals during the World Cup.
Apparently Carvalho may have done enough to impress the Portuguese boss to make a move for him and it could do with the fact that he wouldn’t cost a penny.
The talented midfielder is said to be the man to replace Marouane Fellaini should recent rumours of him renewing his contract prove to be false.
Fans would certainly be more pleased with the bid to sign the Portuguese man instead of renewing the contract of a player they feel isn’t good enough.
According to Old Trafford Faithful, the Sun report that the Red Devils are eyeing up a free transfer for William since he terminated his contract with Sporting Lisbon.
The fact that the 26 year old wouldn’t cost anything in transfer fees should certainly appeal to Mourinho as well as Ed Woodward as it would mean they could spend the rest of their budget elsewhere where it’s more needed.
