Victor Lindelof has opened up a bit about his first season at Manchester United and is happy with how it’s gone so far.
Lindelof arrived from SL Benfica one year ago this month for £31m and, excluding a nightmare debut at Huddersfield Town, has impressed when part of Jose Mourinho’s defence.
Ahead of representing Sweden at the World Cup, kicking off next week, in Russia over the summer, the 23-year-old has been speaking about his debut campaign in England.
“I’ve learned a lot, it’s been a good year for me. I’ve been playing with a lot of good players and I’ve been learning a lot from my coach, Jose Mourinho, so there’s a lot I’ve learned this season. It’s one of the toughest leagues in the world.”
The ball-playing centre-back featured 29 times throughout the 2017-18 season, including 17 appearances in the Premier League, but is still considered to be one for the future.
He’s expected to play a more prominent role in middle of Janne Andersson’s Swedish back-line though, for the nation’s Group F games against Germany, Mexico and South Korea.
It’s unknown whether Lindelof will play a larger role under Mourinho at Man United next season, but is deemed as unlikely considering his eagerness to sign a new centre-back before the transfer window slams shut.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld is said to be number one target, while Sevilla’s Clement Lenglet, Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng also on the shortlist.
