Granit Xhaka has provided an update on his knee injury which will please fans of both Arsenal and Switzerland (via Eurosport).
It was worrying to see Granit Xhaka go down clutching his knee during a training with the Swiss national team.
The midfielder is far from prone to injuries so many feared that it could have put him in doubt for both the World Cup and the Premier League season.
However, the 25-year-old has been given a positive update on the injury by the Swiss national team’s doctor, Pierre Etienne Fournier.
“We could establish that the ligaments were intact, but we wanted to play it safe,” Fournier said.
“It’s just a painful bruise on the knee.”
Xhaka later said that he was “very relieved” that the injury wasn’t as bad as first feared.
It certainly is a relief. Many Arsenal fans have high hopes for the Swiss midfielder’s future at the club under new manager Unai Emery. Thankfully, he will also get a chance to play in the upcoming World Cup too.
