Brazil manager Tite has provided a positive update on the condition of new Manchester United midfielder Fred ahead of the 2018 World Cup.
On Monday it was confirmed that a deal, believed to be worth in excess of £50m, has been agreed with Shakhtar Donetsk but he has yet to be revealed as a Man United player.
His start to life as a United player didn’t get off to the best of starts though, after a nasty challenge from Real Madrid’s Casemiro saw Fred miss days of Brazil training in the build up to the tournament in Russia kicking off on Thursday.
Manager Tite has confirmed that he is still waiting on decisive information from team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar, however believes the dynamic midfielder will be ready in time.
He told Globo Esporte: “The doctor will bring us information about Fred. The forecast is that he is fit and ready to train with us.”
Brazil kick off their World Cup campaign against Switzerland on Sunday night, before facing Costa Rica and Serbia over the course of June in what is a noticeably competitive Group E.
New United man Fred isn’t expected to start, even if fully fit, with Casemiro, Coutinho, Fernandinho and Paulinho all considered to be in front of him in the pecking order.
If supporters don’t catch much of a first glimpse of him in Russia this summer though, the pre-season tour in the United States offers a perfect chance to see the 25-year-old in action and how well he blends in with his new team-mates.
