Chelsea youngster and England international Ruben Loftus-Cheek says he needs to be playing regularly next season.
As reported by the Telegraph, Loftus-Cheek was clear in his ambitions, be that at Chelsea or elsewhere.
Having earned a place in the international set-up, the 22-year-old knows he has to be playing to stay in the mix for a place in Gareth Southgate’s squads beyond the World Cup.
I want to play. That’s the key for me next season regarding where I end up. I want to play. I want to play as much as I can. And even this past season just gone I didn’t play as much as I would have liked to because of injuries. So I still feel I need a proper season of playing, wherever it is.
The midfielder impressed during the latter stages of the season on loan at Crystal Palace and also caught the eye when coming off the bench for England against Tunisia.
Loftus-Cheek is reportedly set to be rewarded with a start against Panama on Sunday in England’s second group game.
The player’s rise has prompted Chelsea fans to urge the club to give him a place in the first-team squad next season.
