Juventus have reportedly turned down Chelsea’s opening offer for central defender Daniele Rugani.
According to claims from the Italian media, as cited by the Mirror, the Blues have made a concrete move to land the impressive centre-back but have seen their opening efforts rebuffed.
Chelsea want to add a new centre-back to their squad this summer and it appears they are keen to shop in Italy, with both Rugani and Roma star Kostas Manolas having been linked in recent times.
It’s believed that the Blues submitted an offer worth in the region of €30m for Rugani, but were knocked back by Juventus, who value the defender at a substantially higher price.
Chelsea are set to have a new manager in place ahead of next season and although this ongoing predicament is yet to be solved, the club are pushing ahead with their transfer dealings.
Maurizio Sarri is set to take charge at Stamford Bridge next season and according to reports, he is an admirer of Rugani’s talents.
