Marouane Fellaini is close to agreeing a new two-year contract at Manchester United, the BBC‘s Simon Stone has confirmed.
The 30-year-old confirmed earlier this week that he would announce the decision he has made regarding his future on Sunday.
Reports emerged from Belgium – and Duncan Castles – the day after claiming a two-year deal had been agreed with Man United after almost a year of negotiations.
And these claims have now been ratified by the BBC, with Stone claiming a deal is close to being finalised with the Belgian midfielder.
Just catching up. Fellaini contract extension @ManUtd close to being completed.

We need to start coming to terms with this. We need to collectively brace ourselves. It’s happening.
July 1, a day when transfers are typically announced, will not see United make a new signing – no young box-to-box midfielder, no left-back, no Gareth Bale, no new central defender, not even a new noodle partner, which would have been more useful – but rather give a new contract to a player who only managed four appearances in seven months.
There was a day when this club ruthlessly dispensed with players like David Beckham, Jaap Stam, Roy Keane and Ruud van Nistelrooy. Now they are bending to the will of a player who wouldn’t get in the starting XI of any other top six side.
Make sure you keep yourself busy on Sunday. Take the dog for an eight hour walk, get on a plane to Mongolia, go and visit your parents, bake a cake. Anything apart from looking at a screen. It’s going to be a truly grim day.
