Jose Mourinho has refused to confirm whether Romelu Lukaku will recover in time for the FA Cup final with Chelsea but noted the situation looked ‘positive’ at this moment in time.
The Belgian picked up an ankle injury early in the second half of Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Arsenal.
Reports have claimed that Lukaku is expected to return to action for the clash with Watford on May 13.
But Mourinho, speaking at a press conference ahead of his side’s trip to Brighton and Hove Albion, was reluctant to confirm that the striker would be fit but added that he was ‘hopeful’.
Mourinho on Lukaku's fitness: "I don't know, I just know that of course [he is not fit for] tomorrow, apart from that we need to wait for more scans, more time."
Will he be fit for the FA Cup final: "I hope so. It looks positive."

There is no way Lukaku is being kept out of an FA Cup final. He has travelled to Belgium to speed up and refine his recovery process, and you can be sure he will put himself on the line for his boss even if his body is not in perfect shape.
But therein lies the main concern. Lukaku will likely return to the starting XI for the Chelsea game, but will he return with the same fire and strength that has hallmarked his campaign so far?
It will be touch and go, a case of fine margins. Supporters can only hope luck is on Lukaku’s side.
