Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand has seemingly backed his former club’s interest in Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.
The Welshman was in outstanding form in the Champions League final against Liverpool, coming off the bench to score a brace to secure the 3-1 result for the trophy.
Bale’s goals were certainly fantastic and saw him once more being linked with a move to United despite the rumours having died down previously.
Ferdinand is clearly a fan of the talented attacker and seems to hope that Jose Mourinho would make a move for him.
The Portuguese manager though has insisted previously that he’s happy with his attacking options and will instead focus on the club’s midfield and defence.
According to the Express, Rio said: “This guy [Bale], his price tag would have gone up again. He’s a fantastic player, he’s got all the attributes you want in a player today to cause devastation in an attacking area.
“And he delivers on the big stage and he’s done so in the last few years. That goal, the second goal, that made this Real Madrid’s game, how dare he even attempt to do that?
“Ridiculous strike. How dare you?”
Gareth Bale would definitely add quality to the Red Devils’ starting XI and there’s an argument to be made of the need for a right winger.
Mourinho’s men are overstocked in terms of left wingers with Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard all capable of featuring there.
Whereas on the right, Manchester United only have Juan Mata or Lingard as the options and neither player truly wants to play there.
A move for Bale would certainly be pricy but Jose could navigate through the deal by playing on the player’s apparent wish to leave.
