Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann has emerged as a candidate to replace Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge this summer.
The Daily Star write that Conte is likely to leave the club following a season of arguments with the board and owner Roman Abramovich.
The club look set to move for Nagelsmann, 30, after they couldn’t agree on financial terms with first choice Luis Enrique. The Blues also held talks with Massimiliano Allegri, but he looks set to take the Arsenal hotseat.
Nagelsmann has impressed since becoming the youngest ever Bundesliga manager at the age of 28, leading the club to the Champions League in his first season and looking set to repeat that feat this campaign.
Chelsea have endured a disappointing defence of their Premier League title, and find themselves five points off fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with three games remaining.
Should they miss out on the Champions League, the 30-year-old could be the man to rebuild the club with fresh ideas.
Nagelsmann is likely to be a man in demand, with Arsenal having previously been linked, and is contracted to the German club until 2021 with a release clause that becomes active next year.
The German was recently quoted as saying:
The next step in my career needs to be something special.
