Manchester United icon Gary Neville has opened up on what he thinks of Jose Mourinho’s tenure at the club so far ahead of the match against Bournemouth.
The Portuguese manager will face off against Eddie Howe’s side on Wednesday evening in the search of a crucial three points after the shock loss to West Brom.
The race for the top four has started to heat up as the Premier League season comes to a close and United will not want to settle for anything less than second place.
Neville believes United have done decently but Mourinho’s era will truly be defined next season rather than the one going on right now.
The former Real Madrid manager lost out on the crown to former arch nemesis Pep Guardiola and Manchester City who were head and shoulders above the rest.
According to the Sport Review, Gary said to Sky Sports: “This season there is no doubt that Guardiola has stolen in front.
“Mourinho can still end the season with a trophy to add to the two of last season, so you can’t say he’s been a failure but over a three-year period, it’s who wins the Premier League titles that will come out the winner.
“Next season is absolutely critical for both managers.”
There’s certainly huge pressure on Jose to deliver the Premier League title next season and it’s likely he will be sacked should he be incapable of doing so.
He’s been heavily backed by the board, financially as well and would’ve had three seasons to put together a side that should reflect his leadership.
