Manchester United’s Antonio Valencia has called on his teammates to remain in a calm state of mind ahead of the hugely anticipated Manchester derby.
Jose Mourinho’s men travel the short distance to the Etihad to face their fierce rivals and league leaders Manchester City.
United are fully aware that a win for the Sky Blues would see them lift the Premier League title and will surely try everything to spoil the party.
Mourinho is known for his big game tactical masterclasses and fans will certainly hope that the players can execute another one perfectly as they did against Liverpool and City.
Valencia though insisted that the players were confident and claimed that the most important thing ahead of derbies is to remain calm.
Valencia: “Confidence is very high. We’ve played some good matches and had some good results in the last four games. Thanks to God, I’ve had the opportunity to play in several derbies now. I think the important thing is that you go into it in a calm frame of mind.” #mufc [MUTV]

It’s often been remarked that playing with one’s heart and not with one’s mind can lead one down a tricky rabbit hole and it’s no surprise to hear the Ecuadorian calling for the latter.
Antonio Valencia has captained the Red Devils for large sections of the season with the club’s official captain Michael Carrick struggling with his injury.
The former Wigan man though has stepped in to good effect for the most part with even Paul Pogba and Chris Smalling occasionally taking the armband.
Valencia’s ability to successfully turn himself into a full-back under Jose has seen him completely reinvigorate his career at Old Trafford.
At one point it appeared as though the former winger’s time at Manchester United was over but he’s done so well that his manager even called him the best right-back in the league last season.
