Manchester United players took to social media soon after claiming a momentous comeback win over Manchester City to express their delight at spoiling their party.
Man City had the chance to wrap up the title against their neighbours at the Ethiad and it looked like they would do just that following a first half during which they dominated the visitors and raced into a 2-0 lead.
But Man United, in a second half that nobody expected, came back from the dead as Paul Pogba spearheaded the perfect comeback with two brilliantly taken goals before Chris Smalling – at fault for City’s opener – netted the winner with 21 minutes left.
And a number of players understandably went on social media to share their delight with supporters.
Eric Bailly summed it up perfectly, lauding the way United, just like under Sir Alex Ferguson, refused to understand the meaning of defeat and came back with a vengeance.

Pogba, having led the second half charge, made it clear that, following a week of slander towards him, he had done all of his talking in response on the pitch.

Marcus Rashford was quick to pay tribute to David de Gea, who made a remarkable save from Sergio Aguero towards the end, and he was – like all of us – still giddy about spoiling City’s party the morning after.
Great goals @paulpogba and @ChrisSmalling ? And @D_DeGea what a save bro

Jesse Lingard also emphasised the never-say-die attitude that encapsulated United’s second half performance at the Ethiad.

City fans, despite being 13 points clear and two weeks away from being champions, were crying in the stands yesterday – a sight that reminded all of us that, yes, Manchester is still red, as Dave pointed out.

And Chris Smalling, the unlikely match-winner, noted that his mentions – normally flooded with sheer fury from supporters – were saturated to say the least following his goal.
