Hector Bellerin has insisted that there is no problem between Mesut Ozil and himself despite their on-field disagreement on Sunday (via Sky Sports).
It was something which many of the more eagle-eyed Arsenal supporters would have picked up during Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Stoke City.
With the match in its final five minutes, Bellerin played a poorly timed pass to his German teammate and Ozil reacted angrily.
After the match, the pair made reference to the spat on Twitter and now, Bellerin has responded to reports of a fallout.
“Straight after the game, we were hugging each other. It happens and what happens on the pitch, stays on the pitch,” Bellerin told Sky Sports.
“I think he said something like ‘you talk too much’ and to be fair if I was a guy playing alongside myself, I do probably talk a bit too much!
“But I always want to give information to the players in front of me and I want players to demand from me as well. That is how it works.
“We only have a pair of eyes so, when you have players around you that can give you information, it is always important.
“It is normal to always get into things like that in games, this time the cameras picked it up.
“This is part of football, it happens every day and once it finishes, we are all friends again.”
It’s easy to forget that Hector Bellerin is still a young player in this team and should be getting advice from someone as experienced as Mesut Ozil. It’s good to see that the German World Cup winner has taken on something of a leadership role at times.
