Wenger Claims He Is Victim Of 'Age Discrimination' As Arsenal Boss

Arsene Wenger has claimed that he is a victim of age discrimination after the growing pressure surrounding his Arsenal future.

This has been a difficult few months for Arsenals fans.

A lack of Champions League football, abysmal form and the situation with Alexis Sanchez have all contributed to what has been a dire spell for the club.

Arsene Wenger has received much of the criticism for these problems with many claiming that the Frenchman should step down from his job at the end of the season.

Wenger has been at the club since 1996 but this recent form has only added to the growing pressure surrounding his future.

Now, the Frenchman has responded to the idea that winning this season’s Europa League would be a good note on which to leave.

“Look, when you age, you focus on doing well for your club and ignore all the rest,” Wenger told beIN SPORTS.

“The older you get, the more it becomes age discrimination. I accept if the results are not good enough then you have to take the consequences.

“But overall that perpetual thing how long you been at a club, how old you are, I find that a bit difficult to take. But all the rest I have to accept because I am in a public job and have to make results and I accept I will be judged on results.”

Wenger turns 69 later this year and it’s obvious that he is coming to the latter end of his career at the club. This summer would be an ideal time to step down as boss whether the Gunners triumph in Europe or not.
