Monaco winger, Thomas Lemar has spoken of his regret about not joining Arsenal during the transfer window last summer.
It feels like a lifetime ago for Arsenal fans but just it has been just over six months since Thomas Lemar came close to joining the club.
The Monaco winger has long been a target for the Gunners who saw a late deadline day move for the Frenchman fall through.
It would’ve doubled Arsenal’s transfer record and now, Lemar has had his say on whether he regrets staying in Ligue 1.
“Regrets? Maybe not,” Lemar told L’Equipe.
“I was a little disappointed (not to have joined the Gunners). Once it’s over, it’s over, so I do not think about it.
“I keep working for these clubs to come back in the next transfer window. I am open to all offers. I am a football player, I like football. I do not close any door.”
So, it seems that Thomas Lemar isn’t closing the door on any future move to Arsenal. However, as good a player as the Frenchman is, there is little use for him at the Emirates right now. The Gunners have far more pressing concerns on the pitch than the quality of the squad’s wingers.
