Ander Herrera has posted a video of himself going through some sprint exercises as he takes further steps towards recovery following his hamstring injury against Sevilla.
The Spaniard, who had missed three games through injury, was reintroduced to the starting XI in Seville, only to come off with the same problem 17 minutes into the game.
Jose Mourinho described the injury as “bad” in the aftermath and noted that Herrera would be out for “at least a few weeks”.
But Herrera has provided supporters with encouragement after posting a video of himself sprinting at a gym.
That injury against Sevilla, which followed a typically ferocious start to the game from the midfielder, could not have come at a worse time: just when Scott McTominay was inching into the starting XI and United were embarking on the crucial last stretch of the season – the period when Herrera came truly alive last season and cemented his status as ‘Player of the Year’ at the club.
He will likely return towards the end of this month – just like Marouane Fellaini – and supporters be hoping that the midfield trio of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and McTominay, supported by Michael Carrick, will not leave Mourinho short at such an important part of the campaign.
