Mourinho praises this Man Utd star after performance vs Liverpool

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has praised Eric Bailly for his performance in the club’s crucial win over Liverpool.

The Ivorian started the match for the first time since November due to his injuries but slotted in seamlessly to the side.

United managed to beat their rivals 2-1 with Mourinho’s men scoring all three goals with Marcus Rashford scoring a brace and Bailly conceding an unfortunate own goal.

The centre-back put in an immense performance and it’s a credit to his display that fans didn’t show any concerns despite the own goal.

Starting alongside Chris Smalling, Eric helped to nullify the Reds’ famously dangerous attacking trio in Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

The former Villareal man injured himself while conceding the own goal and appeared to be set to leave the pitch under upsetting circumstances.

Supporters didn’t wish the night would end for him that way and thankfully it didn’t as he soldiered on, coming back onto the field.

Eric Bailly’s fighting mentality showed itself on the day with perhaps other players in the same circumstances may have shrunk back into their shells.

Instead the defender fought his way back onto the pitch and continued to perform in the way he was prior to his own goal.

It was down to Bailly’s display that the Red Devils’ were capable of withstanding the immense pressure Jurgen Klopp’s men were putting them under.

Fans certainly hope he can remain injury free in order to solidify his spot in the starting XI as well as help with the club’s run in.
