Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof has denied any existing problems between Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba despite reports claiming otherwise.
Rumours have been circulating for weeks now of an apparent relationship breakdown with some pointing to the Frenchman’s absence from the first team as proof.
Whether there is any issues between the two is yet to be seen but Pogba’s warm embrace with Mourinho following the win over Liverpool certainly didn’t seem to indicate any problems.
More level headed neutrals have simply pointed to the former Juventus star’s poor form as the reason for his absence rather than any media hyped rumours.
Lindelof appears to confirm such by claiming that the problems mentioned in the newspapers just don’t exist and refused to discuss it any further.
According to the Sport Review, Victor said to Manchester Evening News: “I do not read anything, there are no problems there. That’s what I’ve got to say about it.”
The Swede hasn’t had the best debut season with United so far but it was always expected given the need for him to transition and adapt.
However, Victor Lindelof has shown glimpses of his quality, particularly as a ball playing central defender as he’s flexed his superiority in that attribute to the club’s other defensive options.
Arguably only Daley Blind holds the same ability on the ball in defence but it’s clear to see that he’s not in the manager’s favour at all this season.
Once Lindelof adapts to the Premier League, particularly it’s physicality then he will surely develop into one of the country’s best defenders.
Being good with the ball is the modern make up of a central defender and should he be paired with the aggressive Eric Bailly then they should hypothetically create the ideal partnership.
